Irina Zhekova was born in Varna. She studied classical guitar and classical singing at “Dobri Hristov” National School of the Arts in her native city. She got a Master’s Degree in classical singing from “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Music Academy (2008). 


She had a specialization course at the Operetta-and-Musical Center of “Stefan Makedonski” State Music Theater (2008 – 2009).

She took lessons from Mirella Parutto and Antonio Boyer in Rome (2009 – 2010) and from Anna Vandi and Cesare Scarton (2012). She has been a prize-winner at the following competitions: “Georgi Zlatev-Cherkin” (2005), “Hopes, Talents, Masters” in Dobrich (2005), “Svetoslav Obretenov” in Provadia (2008).

Her scenic debut was on the stage of “Stefan Makedonski” State Music Theater in the role of Saffi in the operetta Der Zigeunerbaron by Johann Strauss II (2008).

In 2010 she debuted on the stage of the Varna Opera in the role of Gilda (Rigoletto).
