Managing Director of Theater and Music Production Center - Varna

Daniela Dimova was born in Varna. She graduated from “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Music Academy in Sofia in the opera-singing class of Prof. Resa Koleva in 1990. She had a specialization course at “Boris Hristov” Academy in Rome (1991), took lessons from Prof. Margarita Lilova (1993) and Prof. Ida Farina in Milan, Italy (1998). 

Her scenic debut was on the stage of the Ruse State Opera in 1990 in the role of Corilla in Viva la mama by Donizetti.

 Daniela Dimova has a MA in Art Management from the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts "Krastyo Sarafov", 2014.

In December 2009, after winning a competition, he was appointed Managing director of the Opera and Philharmonic Society of Varna.

In December 2010 she won the competition for Managing director of the new organizational structure Theater and Music Production Center - Varna, where the State Opera Varna and the Stoyan Bachvarov Drama Theater were united from mid-2010.

Daniela Dimova successfully combines the creative with the administrative activity, and in 2015, after winning the competition again, she took up her next mandate  as director of TMCP -Varna.

In 2011 and 2015 she was elected for two mandates as a municipal councilor and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Culture at the Municipal Council of Varna.

Singing career

Her debut as a singer was on the stage of the Rousse Opera, and from 1991 to 2009 she had been  a soloist of the State Opera Varna.

She specialized opera singing at Boris Hristov's Academy in Rome and in the opera singing class of Prof. Margarita Lilova, as well as bel canto with Prof. Ida Farina in Milan.

Her repertoire includes about 30 soloist soprano roles from operas by Mozart, Donizetti, Verdi, Bizet, Puccini, J. Strauss and others, as well as a large repertoire of canto-oratory genre, chamber works and solo songs from Bach, Pergolesi, Vivaldi, Mozart, Schubert, Rossini, Verdi, R. Strauss, Schoenberg, Carl Orph, B. Britton and others.

Daniela Dimova performs successfully also in the musical genre with the projects on the Summer Theater stage:  "Hallo Broadway" (2012), "Superstar Gala" (2013), the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" (2014) and the musical "Cats" (2017).

She has participated in the most important Bulgarian music festivals: "Varna Summer", "Sofia Music Weeks", "European Music Festival", performing both opera and canto-oratorial and chamber repertoire from the Renaissance to modern works.

She has participated in opera performances, chamber concerts and recitals worldwide - in Germany, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Russia, Norway, Egypt, Greece, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, China, Korea, Hong Kong and others.

She sang under conductors as Ruslan Raychev, Mihail Angelov, Vasil Kazandjiev, Jordan Dafov, Ivan Filev, Milen Nachev, Borislav Ivanov, Hristo Ignatov, Stanislav Ushev, Nello Santy, Roland Sayfart, Daniel Inbal, Marcus Huber and others.

In January 2007 she released a CD about "Gega New" with Sephardic Songs - a transcript of Jules Levy and Cabaret songs by Arnold Schoenberg.

In May 2008, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, a second CD with Eshkenazki songs, edited by Academician Nikolay Kaufman and songs by Kurt Weil, was released.

Along with her creative career, Daniela Dimova is involved into active public and cultural activities. She organizes a number of interesting projects aiming to present less known and rarely performed in Bulgaria musical works.

In 2007, she founded the project "Music Project", created for the realization of projects in the field of musical culture and providing additional creative engagements in Bulgaria and abroad for musicians from Varna. With the opera "Didon and Enei" by H. Purcell, the guests of Varna has visited Larnaca and Nicosia - Greece, and with Mozart's "Ascanio in Alba" - the Opera House in Varese, Italy.

Awards

Daniela Dimova was honored with a number of prestigious awards: First Prize for Opera Singing at the National Festival of Opera and Ballet Art in Stara Zagora (1989) for the Queen of the Night from Mozart's "Magic Flute"; First prize at the International Arts Festival in Korea (1992); Varna Award (2007) for contribution to the development of opera and chamber music; "Crystal Lyre" (2007) of the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers for contribution to opera art; "Golden Pear" (2011) of Radio Classic FM and Macta Gallery for contribution to Bulgarian culture and revival of the Opera Summer Holidays in the Summer Theater in Varna in 2010; Gold Medal "100 Years Boris Hristov" (2014) from the Ministry of Culture for the concert "Basissimo" with the great Italian Verdi bass Carlo Colombara and Bulgarian bass on May 28, 2014; Crystal Necklace (2015) of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Ensembles for outstanding contribution to the development of the Bulgarian musical culture and on the occasion of her anniversary.
